After the publication of the previous part, I received many comments, many of which mentioned articles from the series "planet-mine" blogger LJ wakeuphuman:

The Grand Canyon in the United States is an ancient industrial uranium quarry.

An industrially developed civilization has existed on Earth for tens of thousands of years.

I am perfectly familiar with these articles and even repost them in my journal, because at the time of their publication this version seemed to me very interesting and worthy of attention. But later, when I began to understand this topic in more detail, it became obvious that in many cases the author of these articles is mistaken.

This is what large industrial open pit mines look like.

Pay attention to the fact that the walls of the crankcase go in smooth or even straight lines, without sharp corners and sharp edges, since it is precisely such trajectories that are most optimal during the operation of equipment. In general, the quarry has a fairly regular shape, convenient for the use of technology.

Again, no sharp corners, almost regular elliptical shape.

We see smooth walls again. There are no sharp edges and protrusions that would interfere with the operation of the equipment.

In all the above photographs of real open pit mining operations, it is clearly seen that, in general, the open pit mines have a fairly simple spatial structure. There are practically no complex branched passages, protruding sharp corners. Everything is very rational and adapted to the work of technology.

Now let's see what we see in the Grand Canyon?

I will once again repeat the photos from the previous part with a general view.

These images show very clearly that this is a typical fractal structure that forms during water erosion. A very complex spatial structure with many branches, a large number of sharp edges and protrusions. There is no similarity with the above photos of the quarries, not even close.

That said, I have no doubt that you can find a photograph taken in the "Grand Canyon" in which the view will be very similar to a mining quarry. I can even admit that in some places of the canyon, in fact, mining could have been carried out. But in general, this structure is not of artificial origin, but was washed out by a powerful stream of water.

Remembered in my articles

wakeuphuman for comparison, he cited photographs with rotary excavators. Maybe it is bucket wheel excavators that leave the structure that we see in the "Grand Canyon"? Let's compare. Below are photos with traces of the work of bucket wheel excavators.

The link contains a selection of photos of the giant bucket wheel excavator

Here I will only give a photo with a general view of the quarry in which he works.

It is clearly seen that, in general, the general appearance of the quarry does not fundamentally differ from those that we saw earlier. But the most important thing is that it is not in any way similar to what we see in the "Grand Canyon".

For those who once again decide to write that “the structure in the Grand Canyon is very similar to the one left by a bucket wheel excavator,” I want to point out the following important points.

The rotor diameter of the KU-800 excavator, which is described in the article at the link above, is 11 meters. The height of one "horizon" is 30-35 meters. As a result, in a quarry, the depth of which is 335 meters, we see about 10 "horizons". If we look at the "Grand Canyon", then the depth there reaches one and a half kilometers. Therefore, the height of what you supposedly take as "horizons" from the work of a bucket wheel excavator, without taking into account the scale of the picture, is in fact almost 10 times larger. If you are at least a little versed in technology, you should understand why it is impossible to build a bucket wheel excavator simply by increasing all linear dimensions by 10 times. But even if we assume that someone managed to build such a giant, for example, using some alien technologies unknown to us, then, firstly, he will need space for maneuvering and work, which in many cases is not observed in the “Grand Canyon” …

Secondly, transport routes will be needed to transport all that huge amount of rock that this giant will extract. Moreover, it will be necessary to take it out with the same giant vehicles as the excavator itself. That is, in addition to flat areas on each horizon, on which an excavator should be located, even and rather gentle transport routes are needed throughout the canyon.

Thirdly, if this is a bucket wheel excavator, then the result of its operation should be exactly the kind of regular structures with straight or arcuate walls that we see in the pictures of open pits, and not the chaotic rugged structure that we see in the Grand Canyon.

At the same time, I have no doubt that, if you wish, you can choose such images and shooting angles in which the photographs of the "Grand Canyon" will be well, very similar to the traces of a bucket wheel excavator, and the canyon itself will seem to be a large quarry. But only this is already called a falsification of facts, because if we look at the whole picture as a whole, then there is no similarity of the "Grand Canyon" with a quarry or any other artificial structure.
