But where did Pushkin get this depth of penetration and understanding of the most sacred corners of our soul? Where is the storehouse from which the great poet drew Russian wisdom, Russian mentality - everything that is called the cultural code of the people?

In November 1824 Pushkin wrote to his brother:

From the words of the nanny - Arina Rodionovna - Pushkin recorded seven fairy tales, ten songs and many folk expressions, although he heard more from her, of course. Sayings, proverbs, sayings did not leave her tongue. The nanny knew a lot of fairy tales and passed them on in a special way. It was from her that Pushkin first heard about the hut on chicken legs, and the tale of the dead princess and the seven heroes. It was she who introduced Alexander Sergeevich into the mysterious world of pagan images and instilled the very primordial Russian worldview, which Alexander Sergeevich did not change until the end of his days …

We are accustomed to the image of Arina Rodionovna in the form of a deep old woman with glasses, and meanwhile, in the year of Alexander Sergeevich's birth, she was only 41 years old (1758-1828). She was a cheerful Russian woman who managed to convey to the young poet all that wisdom of the Russian people, which was preserved bypassing official Orthodoxy and the influence of Western culture. This is Veles's wisdom - deep and sacred.

The biographer of Pushkin P. V. Annenkov reported:.

Well, Veles is not looking for direct ways - to cut the Gordian knot in one fell swoop, this is the lot of Perun. Veles, through Arina Rodionovna, gave us the Grain of Wisdom, from which the magnificent and majestic tree of Pushkin's creativity grew. Against the background of his beauty and power, the dull lines of desert tax collectors and Pharisees now silently pass by - from nothingness to nothingness, without touching the Russian soul at all.

And the more significant is the fact that Pushkin left this world on Veles' day, unwittingly devoting his life to his Wisdom. The enchanted Svirel of Veles, the patron of the arts, handed over by Arina Rodionovna to the great poet, and today imperceptibly, with a subtle, mesmerizing melody sounds in our forests, fields and city apartments …
