The documentary and feature series of the NTV columnist Vladimir Chernyshev is being released on the sixtieth anniversary of Stalin's death. This film is an attempt to present him as a living and complex person, without retouching and thick black paint.

With the help of reconstructions and artistic filming, the most important documentary evidence, eyewitness recollections and comments of authoritative historians, the creators of the project try to trace the life path, as well as record the complex evolution of the character, views and actions of the "leader of the peoples" - from a beggar house in Georgia to high Kremlin offices.

The film crew of Vladimir Chernyshev will visit Gori, where Stalin spent his childhood, in Tbilisi, where he studied at the seminary, and in Baku, where his revolutionary activities began. Viewers will see the places of Stalin's exile in Russia and the cities with which his further party career was directly connected - St. Petersburg and its environs, as well as places of rest - Sochi, Gagra, Pitsunda, where incidents similar to attempts were recorded. A special place is occupied by the cities in which the meetings of the leaders of the allies took place and, without exaggeration, history was made during the Second World War - Yalta and Potsdam. The creators of the project filmed at the Solovetsky Stone in Moscow and at the Holodomor Museum in Kiev.

Artistic reconstructions will help viewers plunge into the contradictory and tense atmosphere of a past era, provide an opportunity to judge that time not from today's, well-fed and relatively calm far away, but based on the realities and requirements of those days. Only in this way, according to the authors of the project, it will be possible to understand the motives of many actions that today, at first glance, may seem completely inexplicable.
