A documentary film about the consequences for the environment of the activities of the production association "MAYAK" - a secret plant for the production of weapons-grade plutonium and reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel, located in the Chelyabinsk region. Over the 60 years of operation of this enterprise, tens of thousands of square kilometers of Russian territory have been contaminated with radioactive emissions and discharges, and have become unsuitable for life. As a result, hundreds of thousands of people have become victims of this activity.
Thanks to the many years of efforts of representatives of public organizations Gosman and Mili Kabirovs (TECHA), Natalia Mironova (MOVEMENT FOR NUCLEAR SAFETY) and many others, the resettlement of residents of the "radioactive village" Muslyumovo on the Techa River in the Chelyabinsk region began. But the spent nuclear fuel continues to flow to the LIGHTHOUSE, and the waste from its processing pollutes the environment. At the same time, the consumers of atomic electricity in the north-west of Russia consider its production to be clean, cheap and bear no responsibility for the safety of the region where the spent nuclear fuel is supplied. Rosatom continues to build new nuclear power plants at the expense of Russian taxpayers and move hazardous waste, undermining the safety of the regions where it is located.
