A few tips for those who are thinking about the question "How to read more". These tips don't pretend to be genius, but many of them contain good working recipes. At the end of the article, as an example, a list of books to read from Andrey Fursov is given, which will help to put interesting books in the queue for reading.
1. Always carry a book with you
When you carry a book with you all the time, you are less likely to "hang" on your phone or daydream while standing somewhere in line. If you spend time waiting for a book, the number of books you read will increase significantly.
2. Take time to read before bed
10 or 15 minutes of reading before bed is a good way to relax after a hard day at work.
3. Get enough sleep
Most likely it will seem that this advice does not belong here at all. So let me explain. Many people want to read while they commute to work on the subway or train, but since they did not get enough sleep at night, they accordingly decide to take a nap. If you are well rested, you can use your travel time for some very valuable reading.
4. Use an e-book
You can customize the font size for yourself, you can send the book to multiple devices, you can select text and make notes, and most importantly, all these things (and many others) can be done with one hand. After all, it is so convenient when you are traveling on a crowded bus or tram and hold on to the handrail with one hand.
5. Buy audiobooks
If you prefer to “read with your ears,” then this option is ideal for you.
6 read one book at a time
As tempting as it may seem, try to focus only on the book you are reading at the moment, so you will get much more benefit from each book.
7. Read while you are sitting on the "throne"
Of course, you shouldn't spend half a day in the toilet, but if you go there for 5 or more minutes, why not spend it with benefit. Five minutes of additional reading is guaranteed.
8. Write down books you've already read
It is very exciting to see how this list grows and replenish over time. It will also inspire you to move forward and keep reading.
9. Create a list of books you want to read
This list is a symbol of the knowledge you want to acquire in the future. By periodically looking at this list and adding to it, you will motivate yourself to read further!
10. If you are reading, do not be distracted by other activities
What's great about e-readers as opposed to tablets is the lack of distractions! I can tell from my own experience that when reading a book from a tablet, my hands are constantly reaching out to check mail, Twitter and messages on FB. And the e-reader completely frees you from such temptations, not to mention the good old paper book. All that remains is to find a quiet, cozy place and read, read, read …
11. Love reading for real
Reading is magic. Reading books with real passion, you discover a lot of new things. Sometimes, even in a book that you re-read every few years and have rubbed it to holes, you still discover something new every time! Reading changes you, inspires you to do unexpected things, and opens up opportunities for new interesting ideas.
12. Make reading social
Find friends who are as addicted to reading books as you are. Open your book club, even if not real, but virtual - there are many social networks of reading lovers. Reading is not only a solo sport, it can also be a team sport.
13. Make reading a good habit
More than one article has been written about instilling positive habits (I would rather not say anything about books). Reading is a very good habit and can be instilled by starting at least 10 minutes a day. Find something that inspires and motivates you and stick to the main line. Where there is 10 minutes, there will be 20, and possibly more.
14. Don't read like reading is your homework
Reading shouldn't be the next item on your To Do List. You do not read for show (here I am so well-read), you read in order to make your life richer and more interesting!
15. Discard the book if it is boring
You should read not because it is good and useful, but because you enjoy the process. Reading is not taking vitamins: sour, but healthy! Reading is fun and enjoyable. If in the process of reading the book you do not feel either one or the other, put it aside and start reading something more interesting. Perhaps the time has not yet come for this book, and it might be worth trying to read it later.
16. Discover amazing books
Exchange your impressions and books with friends who also like to read, read reviews and reviews, go at least occasionally to offline bookstores, second-hand bookstores and libraries. Sometimes in such places you can find many interesting books that you will not see in electronic form. It may be old-fashioned, but I really love paper books! The smell of new paper, the smell of old books, the sound of turning pages - this has its own magic. And I am very glad that I have a small child with whom we read real paper books with beautiful pictures and which still smell like magic, not electronics.
17. Don't worry about reading speed
As odd as it is to read this advice on a blog that specializes in optimizing all processes, reading is not a competition. The most important thing that you get is pleasure, do not forget about it! You don’t skip your favorite tune from the middle to listen to more songs, or you don’t eat your favorite dish in a couple of sessions? You enjoy both. The same goes for reading: read slowly, tastefully, savoring each paragraph.
Reading a book is like a chemical reaction. You will never be the same person you were before reading the book, for books teach, encourage, and shape us.
The list of books, of course, is individual for each person, nevertheless, as an example, we bring to the attention of our readers a similar list from Andrey Fursov:
You can search for the books listed in the video using this link (search list):

Historians have NOT READ this book. TARTARIA - RUSSIA - ORDA - Scythia - in the book of Sigismund Herberstein
The history of the Russian state of the 15th-16th centuries known to us has a huge number of white spots due to the lack of written sources - the fault was not only frequent city fires, but also periods of political turmoil, during which real facts on paper were distorted to please the new rulers
Read my name through the letter "C" - Isaac Asimov
Ray Bradbury's story about the later famous butterfly, whose death in the past significantly changed the future, appeared in 1952. Azimov's story, similar in storytelling, is in 1958. In both, we are talking about how very small, extremely small changes in the surrounding reality can cause serious consequences in the future
Etruscan has long been read
A fragment from the book of the same name by G.V. Nosovsky and A.T. Fomenko very clearly shows that the Etruscan inscriptions were read using the Old Slavic language back in the 19th century - but even then these results, which did not fit into the traditional Scaligerian chronology, were covered with a concrete slab of silence
"Trotsky of the XXI century": why more and more countries consider Soros an enemy
The Israeli Knesset is considering a bill called "Soros Law" in local media. Its adoption will cut off cash flows to non-profit organizations from the Open Society Foundation, founded by American financier and philanthropist George Soros. This charitable institution is distributing donations to liberalize government systems around the world, with more countries where its activities are deemed undesirable
Russian society is becoming more and more estate-based
In times of crisis, traditionally the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, and this is the case in Russia as well. The Garden Ring remains a kind of "reservation" for the wealthy residents of the capital; in general, Moscow is increasingly moving away from the regions. Access to normal food and health care is inherited instead of property
