Video: 9 paranormal phenomena that turned out to be fake

Sometimes we want to believe in time travelers, flying saucers, giant monsters, and ghosts. But, unfortunately, often photos and videos of the paranormal are just a clever fake, which is often very difficult to see through.
These materials were at one time published in many authoritative publications and millions of people were confident in the veracity of these mysterious photographs. Even now, despite quite logical explanations, the pictures cause a lot of controversy among skeptics and supporters of various theories.
Here are 9 photos of paranormal phenomena, each of which managed to find a scientific, logical explanation.
1. A ghost in an elevator in an office in Singapore
This eerie video was filmed on a security camera in an office in Singapore. After the man exits the elevator, a ghostly figure appears out of nowhere behind him. When the video hit the network, it quickly gained millions of views, and people began to argue about what it could be. And as it soon became clear, it was an excerpt from a public service announcement, which is intended to highlight the "dangers of working late."
2. Photos of 10-meter skeletons found around the world
Photos of archaeologists excavating giant human bones can be seen all over the internet. Many sites, including news sites, claim to be the remains of an ancient race called the Anunnaki. Nice, but these are just photos from a photoshop competition for the designcrowd.com portal, where you can see all the works.
3. Time Traveler in 1941
You've probably seen this photo, because it was argued about almost everywhere. This photo was taken in 1941 in Canada. A modern man in a trendy T-shirt, sunglasses and a digital camera stands out from the crowd. But let's take a closer look.
The man is wearing a Montreal maroons hockey fan jersey. Similar sunglasses were worn then by polar explorers, but they were in fashion among ordinary people. And in his hands - a model of a pocket camera Kodak, which was released back in 1925.
4. Photo of Bigfoot
The famous Bigfoot photo was taken in 1967 and has been controversial in the press for many years. But not everyone knows that in the same year, director Roger Patterson signed a contract, according to which he was given $ 37 thousand to shoot a film about Bigfoot in Bluff Creek. The photo was taken by a local hunter and published in print, which served as a good publicity for the film.
5. Brown Lady from Rainham Hall
The Brown Lady is the most famous ghost photograph of all time. The photo was believed to depict Lady Dorothy Walpole, who lived in England in the early 1700s. Studies on the original photographic plate showed that no manipulations were carried out with it, so for a long time the photo with the ghost was considered authentic.
But only until lawyer and researcher Alan Murdy found evidence in the Cambridge University library that the famous brown lady appeared due to a glare that got into a dusty room and was reflected in the camera lens.
6. Figure of an astronaut in the field
In May 1964, Jim Templeton, a firefighter from Carlisle, England, took some pictures of his little daughter during a picnic in a clearing. When the photo was developed, they saw a strange figure in a spacesuit, standing behind the girl's back. Moreover, except for the girl, Jimmy and his wife, there was no one in the field.
After the excitement in the press, it turned out that the photo was exactly Jim's wife, who, due to color correction and overexposures in the photo, looked like an astronaut.
7. A giant something in the sky over Zambia
Last year, many prominent news sites circulated a photograph of a giant figure in the sky above a shopping center in Kitwe, Zambia. The author stated: “We were shocked. Someone thought it was a god and began to worship, while others fled in terror."
After this news spread across the Internet, it turned out that photography is a photoshop. But such a figure does exist. And this is how it looks in the video.
8. Spirit of Newby Church
This photograph was taken in 1963 at Christ the Comforter Church in North Yorkshire. The picture shows the figure of a man in a hood and a cloth mask. And its height (determined in comparison with the surrounding furniture) is about 2, 7 meters. Although more than 55 years later, this photo is still the subject of controversy.
Some experts said the photo was real. Others say that it is the result of double exposure, when one image is superimposed on another. And what do you think? How could this be done?
9. Skeleton of a mermaid
“An unusual creature, like a woman with a fish tail, washed up on a Hawaiian beach. Then the Egyptian scientists said that they had discovered the incredible - the skeleton of a mermaid,”- such a story was invented by journalists.
But the really incredible thing is that many media have bought into falsification, although even the naked eye can see the work in Photoshop. On the left in the picture is a photo of the "mermaid", and on the right is the original.

Underground city Ramenki-43 near Moscow turned out to be fiction
The undergrounds of Moscow have been exciting the minds of researchers for decades. Some of them are conditionally accessible and, if desired, you can go there for an excursion accompanied by diggers, others are closed and securely guarded. But there are also places where not only there is no way for mere mortals, but also whose very existence can be determined only by indirect signs, for example, the underground city of Ramenskoye-43, covered with legends no worse than the lost library of Ivan the Terrible
The Mayan Crystal Skulls Turned Out to be a Worldwide Hoax
With the ancient Maya, we associate not only the abandoned cities, the calendar, which is believed to predict the end of the world, but also the skulls of crystal. The most famous of them is the find of Mitchell Hedges, or "the skull of Destiny"
The universe turned out to be wrong
Cosmologists are faced with a serious scientific problem, which indicates the imperfection of human knowledge about the Universe. The complexity concerns such a seemingly trivial thing as the expansion rate of the Universe. The fact is that different methods indicate different meanings - and so far no one can explain the strange discrepancy
Conspiracy theories that turned out to be true
Recently, conspiracy theories have become popular and everything that, one way or another, concerns conspiracies. People are talking about laboratories that produce coronavirus, and on the network they are discussing Zuckerberg's attitude towards reptilians and this is quite normal, because it fully corresponds to human nature
