We believe that the most interesting and tourist attractive object of mountain Shoria is not the ski Sheregesh, but the Kuylyum mountain. Although few people know about her, even among the residents of the Kemerovo region …

This is not surprising, because they started talking about her only a few years ago. Experienced geologists, together with Siberian eniologists headed by Georgy Sidorov, looked at a number of megaliths with a fresh eye … and unambiguously decided: these are nothing more than man-made cyclopean structures created by an unknown ancient civilization.

For the first time they made public their views at the annual scientific-practical conference in Tomsk (2013) "Opportunities for the development of local history and tourism in the Siberian region and adjacent territories." Although even before that - in the local press, deliberately calling this place "Altai" so that "wild" tourists would not find it as long as possible and, therefore, not so quickly covered with garbage and not "decorated" with their initials on the rocks. Alas, this is the fate of many magnificent natural monuments in Russia …

In the August trip of the Eco-Tour72 club, Kuilum was the "highlight" of the program, it was on this object that three more participants additionally "pecked", which the whole group was sincerely happy about, because the more people there are, the more fun and cheaper for everyone is temporary housing and rent all-terrain transport. "Loaf" in this role has already proven itself from the best side more than once!

Before reaching a few kilometers to the village of Orton, you can see a steep roll to the right, to the foot of that very rock. An hour on foot with heavy backpacks - along the damp floodplain of a mountain stream, a few hours up, under the canopy of majestic cedars (on the way back we also picked up ripe cones!) - and we finally ended up in the stalkers' camp. For those who are still not in the subject: a stalker is a researcher of the unknown. On the right, the very mountains glorified in the videos flaunt temptingly, but there is only enough time before dark just to put up the tents.

An hour later, a small company descends from the top, we meet: the "owner" of Kuylyum is Alexander Grigorievich Bespalov, who can be safely considered the discoverer of this megalithic complex. With him is his son, grandson, friend of his grandson and "Baba Julia", who, as it turned out, completely alone climbed into this wilderness and climbed the same peak with a backpack, and not for the first time!

Having exchanged the names of mutual acquaintances, during the evening tea, both sides realized that they were all made of the same dough - they were seriously carried away by antediluvian civilizations. Why else would it be necessary to go so far and lose a couple of liters of sweat on a steep climb ?!

On a warm sunny morning, light-handed, armed only with photo-optics, we went on a long-awaited excursion with the cherished goal: to check out the very anomalousness of mountain “boobies” with our own eyes, taking into account personal tourist and partly stalker experience.

At first glance, it’s true: sometimes individual fragments of the rock seemed to flow into each other, as if they were melted in some unknown way, but without the use of high temperatures, unknown to modern science. Sometimes we came across such bizarre visors and niches that it is simply impossible to explain by the action of water and wind. Well, perhaps only by long exposure to violently beating waves, but the height here, we note, is about a kilometer above sea level.

A month before us, the Cosmopoisk expedition headed by Vadim Chernobrov himself came to this very anomalous mountain. In his personal opinion, these bizarre sculptures are just a joke of nature. But they found here a huge walled up entrance to the mountain. However, with all the external showiness of the "entrance" and the attractiveness of the hypothesis itself, we cannot agree with it yet, otherwise we would have to admit that this entrance is walled up … from the inside! For several monoliths, which are the very "plug", simply cannot be inserted from the outside: a thin stone visor hanging downward interferes. And no secret anti-gravity technology could get around this mini-barrier!

But on the top of this small spur of Kuilyum, we met magnificent (there are no options!) Ritual stone bowls for sacrifice, working in a cascade in pairs, the upper one is in a megalith like a seid, which is very typical for Karelia, although it is several thousand kilometers from here to it …

On the way back to the camp, we accidentally came across a relatively fresh bear track (“Don't be afraid - it's yesterday's!” - reassured the eco-guide), although our driver from Orton assured us that we hadn't met clubfoots here. I would not like to become such a light seasonal snack! We also collected as many chanterelles as we have never seen in our entire life. So our ingenuous dinner was decorated with fried mycelium.

In the morning, the "master of the mountain", so that we would no longer fornicate, decided to show us the secret "accordion" that we had already been told about. These turned out to be vertical, up to 6 meters high, dark megaliths, standing "on the bottom" along a relatively steep slope so that from above they were practically at the same level, along which another 2-3 rows of relatively regular small "blocks" went. But it was not even this that surprised us, but the fact that they all stood on a single solid "foot", which went at an angle of almost 45 degrees to the horizon, along the slope of this spur. This moment is much more difficult to explain with a joke of nature. Moreover, during a circular bypass of these rocky outliers, it was easy to notice the remains of a flat "roof" (solid flat megalith). And including a large fragment with an area of several hundred square meters, which once fell from the "accordion" and stuck at an angle into the ground, as in the classic picture of an emergency UFO. Most likely as a result of an ancient but powerful earthquake!

In the same “okolotok” (you just had to walk around) there is one strange peak, reminiscent of a giant mushroom, the volume of several railway cars. The narrower base consists not only of granite blocks, but also "corrected" by the strange composition of "mortar with stone chips", which is found in almost all the cracks of the megaliths. It would be logical to assume that this is just a looser and softer rock, more prone to erosion than others, but it is too much everywhere

"in place"…

I had to take samples of this "stone-curd" mass for laboratory analysis. We hope that its results will be ready even before the conference "Slovtsov Readings - 2016" (November 16), where everyone will be able to see a detailed colorful report by the author of these lines.

In a word, the "accordion" made us pretty happy and, on the whole, met all our expectations, for the sake of which we took a vacation and traveled many hundreds of kilometers. We felt that we were at the origins of some grandiose mystery, to which only a few dozen people who have been here in recent years are privy so far. It is unlikely that our generation will solve it. But research in this mountainous enclave is imperative to continue.

Firstly, because from space the spurs of Kuylyum really resemble the remains of a giant wall, behind which our distant ancestors, the Hyperboreans, wanted to hide (not from the Great Flood?). On the other hand, there is a hypothesis that there are several similar structures here, and by no means have people visited all of them. They form a regular pentagonal structure, which our good new friend Alexander Bespalov considered from a satellite image with an experienced eye.

However, even a visual inspection of these peaks takes several years. In addition, there is a kind of polygonal ("plasticine") masonry and sacred objects (the same stone bowls) on other peaks of mountain Shoria. Some of them were discovered literally a year or two ago, and the indigenous Shors, who possess this information, having shared with us tete-a-tete, are not at all interested in being visited by unorganized groups of low-culture tourists. Although it is on ethno and ecotourism that in the coming years they are betting, with great willingness to adopt the positive experience of those territories and tour operators that have been successfully working in this field for a long time. For the benefit of the development of domestic tourism (even if somewhere in opposition to Egypt and Turkey), because in Russia, and in Siberia alone, there are plenty of interesting places. Enough for more than one generation of curious tourists, especially for those who are not spoiled by the service.
