The Microsoft co-founder has been talking a lot lately about the Virus-Not-To-Be-Named (VNNV) problem. He gave an interview to the American Internet resource TED, and before that he answered questions from users of the network site Reddit. His controversial comments instantly went viral online and put Gates back in the crosshairs of conspiracy theorists.

During a session he hosted on Reddit, Gates talked about "digital certificates" that show who has recovered from HCNI or been vaccinated against it. This has caused concern for many who fear that the billionaire and philanthropist will want to implant microchips in everything and everyone. But is this fear justified? Did he really say that? You will laugh, but Bill Gates did suggest such a thing, which is easier said than done. Let's see why.

Here's what Bill Gates will do with WCN

Gates works to reduce the risk of serious diseases around the world, such as polio, through his organization, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

In his TED interview (see video below), Bill Gates expressed his opinion on what he would do right now if he became president. He said he would prioritize isolation across the country, using as an example the several weeks period followed by China and other countries, having managed to significantly reduce the number of infections. He also called for extreme quarantines lasting 6 to 10 weeks.

He disagrees with Donald Trump, who wants industrial plants to work on Easter Sunday (April 12), adding that he considers this a "very irresponsible" attitude.

Bill Gates on digital certificates for vaccinations

Gates gave similar answers in his thread posted on Reddit. He said countries that do well in testing for the virus and remain quarantined begin to see improvements in just a few weeks, after which he believes they should reopen and return to normal.

However, his most controversial comment was the one he made about "digital certificates" that would record whether someone was vaccinated against HCNV or not.

“Ultimately we will have digital certificates that will show us who recovered, who was recently tested, or when we have the vaccine, who got it,” he wrote on Reddit.

Gates may be referring to quantum dot tattoos currently being developed by researchers at MIT and Rice University. These tattoos are designed to keep records and histories of each person's vaccination. Last December, researchers at two universities said they were developing these tattoos after Gates urged them to find a solution to identify those who have not been vaccinated against various diseases.

Why is it too early to worry?

In another related thread, some Reddit users discussed whether Gates' idea of these digital certificates could be applied today.

One of them expressed concern that in the near future, in order to leave their homes, a microchip embedded in the body with a digital record of vaccination against HCNV may be required. Others noted that governments were not required to have a “digital certificate” or do something similar with other vaccines, so they were unlikely to do that with HCNV.

In his commentary, Gates used the "eventually" turnover, and the technology he was talking about is undoubtedly still at a very early stage of development. So it may be too early to start worrying that someone will force us to get a tattoo or implant microchips - which is understandable given the prevailing paranoia, exacerbated by the media.

However, this does not mean that Gates' idea will not become a reality in the future …
