It seems fantastic that Russian inventors have learned to "read" people's thoughts, having overtaken Elon Musk.
Or that they are the leaders in the production of artificial sapphire on the planet, which is included in the Apple Watch.
They also came up with laser technology for cutting glass, which, again, is used in the manufacture of iPhones.
Are you surprised? And this is just the beginning.
Now you will see not some secret covering technologies - but modern developments of our inventors and scientists, who are already conquering world markets and going into mass production. Go.
Growing artificial sapphire
It is hard to believe, but it is in Stavropol, the center of the agrarian region, that an enterprise is operating, which is the world's largest manufacturer of artificial sapphires. This is the Stavropol Monocrystal, a subsidiary of the diversified holding Energomera. A quarter of the world's synthetic sapphires are produced here.
It was on “Monocrystal” that a 300 kilogram artificial sapphire was grown for the first time in the world.
In general, they began to grow long ago, more than a hundred years ago, and were used for Swiss watches.
The first sapphire was grown in Switzerland. With the advent of electronics, it became clear that artificial sapphire is a unique material, it has a lot of applications. Certain sapphire-based devices perform better than silicon-based devices. For example, sapphire conducts heat faster. It is ideal for making LEDs.
Remember the moment when, instead of three hours without recharging, laptops began to work for five to six hours? The battery life increased due to savings on the backlight, it was replaced by a sapphire-based LED. Then LEDs began to be used in televisions, thanks to which it became possible to make them much thinner.
Well, for the consumer, the most understandable use of sapphire is as a screen for a smartphone or smart watch.
Cutting glass for iPhones
Laser controlled thermal splitting, or in abbreviated form LUT - technology - was developed by Vladimir Kondratenko.
The technology has found the greatest application in the Taiwanese FoxconnTechnologyGroup - the main manufacturer and assembler of Apple products.
According to the traditional technology, the edge of the glass is ground and chamfered after cutting. Moreover, it must be polished before semi-polishing; the edge should shine. Strength tests are simple: the screen is placed on two supports, and the top begins to press. After mechanical cutting under a load of 8-10 kg, the glass breaks.
And after the laser one, the glass bent, and only at 100 kg (!) It crumbled into small fragments, like tempered.
But there are only two such busts in the world.
The Russian inventor and the president of FoxconnTechnologyGroup, who said that there would be no others, only he and Professor Kondratenko, who developed this technology. The bust is made using laser-guided splitting technology, in layers. As often happens, a person's talent manifests itself in many ways.
Kondratenko's office is covered with paintings. Painting allows Vladimir Stepanovich to switch, change the type of activity, and not get tired. With all his workload, he writes more than fifty paintings every year.
But Kondratenko himself still considers himself a good engineer, not an artist.
Over the past 5 years, Vladimir Stepanovich has received 20 patents for inventions and utility models. Of his 137 patents, 65 are patented in industrialized countries.
25 licenses for the use of his inventions in industry were acquired in Russia, another 10 - by the largest foreign companies. In these frames, you see the incredible - a person is watching a video on a monitor, a special device records the activity of his brain while watching, and the neural network, based on this activity, quite accurately guesses what exactly the person is seeing at the moment. At the same time, the neural network does not know what is shown on the monitor, that is, if we simplify it, it “reads the thoughts of a person”. This is the development of the MIPT laboratory of neuro-robotics and the Neuro-Botix company.
Elon Musk's Neurolink startup is currently working on the same task, but the Americans are implanting thousands of electrodes into the brain to interact with the brain, and so far they are conducting experiments only on animals. The Russian development reads the signal from the surface of the brain and is completely safe for humans. In the future, it will allow paralyzed people to interact with the outside world and will become an impetus for further improvement of the brain-computer interface.
