In China, a unique structure is under construction, which will once again surprise the whole world. It will be the Quzhou Sports Park with buildings that rise in the form of hills with a green lawn of enormous size, along which visitors can walk. The complex will look more like a city park.
The Chinese architectural and design firm MAD Architects has developed a futuristic concept for the Quzhou Sports Park, which harmoniously intertwines natural landscape and architecture.
The design of the project is based on the fact that the Quzhou urban district in Zhejiang province (China) is a rather wooded area, so the developers, led by architect Ma Yansong, tried to implement a huge complex (390 thousand sq. M.) In natural landscape.
As a result, the Quzhou Sports Park facility will become a natural continuation of the city and will occupy 700 thousand square meters. m., gradually penetrating into the natural area. So the second project in a peculiar way paid tribute to the thousand-year history and culture of this region.
Help from Novate. Ru editors:The concept of "Quzhou Sports Park", presented back in 2018, is described by the authors of the idea from MAD as "the world's largest complex of earth shelter buildings", which will have a total built-up area of 390 thousand square meters. m, excluding the green zone around sports and entertainment facilities. In this project, MAD Architects demonstrated the rejection of the traditional way of urban planning, promoting the benefits of green energy and architecture in determining the priorities of the future.
As part of the project, it is planned to build a stadium (first stage), a gym, outdoor and indoor training grounds, an indoor pool, a science and technology museum, a hotel, youth and children's centers. There will also be catering and retail locations and many other sports attractions. And all these objects will harmoniously merge with nature, so that the townspeople who want to go in for sports will be able to breathe fresh air without fear of health.
Founder and Chief Architect of MAD Architects Ma Yansun, being a great lover of "crazy ideas", the "Quzhou Sports Park" project once again proves that it is necessary to abandon the traditional model of urban construction and create architectural objects, "relying only on land art and natural landscape, which forms a unique urban space inherent in the spiritual understanding of people, nature and culture of the city."
In the new concept of his team, a complete fusion with nature is clearly expressed, because the main part of the buildings of this complex is created in the form of large green hills with skylights at the top, which look like tiny lakes from a distance. These lake hatches will allow natural light to enter in addition to artificial lighting.
The contours of underground structures paint an intricate pattern on the surface of the landscape, and it is they that serve as pedestrian and bicycle paths. Thus, the inclined facades naturally serve as an additional place for physical education and sports of the townspeople, and also allow, walking along the grass or paths, to imperceptibly "climb" to the top of architectural objects. By the way, some peaks are not only a hatch window, but also serve as a platform with a panoramic view.
In addition to the buildings hidden underground and thousands of paths that entangle them like a serpentine, several additional observation platforms will be created on the territory of the sports complex, which will allow people to enjoy the beauty of the park from different parts of it.
Of course, the main building of Quzhou Sports Park will be the crater-shaped stadium. It is he who is, thereby, the first stage of construction. The sports arena will be quite impressive in size and will be able to accommodate about 30 thousand people in its stands.
At the same time, even here, most of the spectator seats and auxiliary rooms will be hidden underground, with the exception of those that will be under a translucent "halo hovering above the ground" and saving the fans from the sun and rain. Since they plan to make a huge visor white, the authors of the project themselves call it a "cloud".
Despite the difficult current situation in the country, the construction of the sports arena is in full swing, and the organizers hope that the first stage will still be completed by the end of 2021.

Cave cities of Crimea, China and the Himalayas - how and why were they built?
Why did the ancient inhabitants of Crimea and other places cut down rooms in the rocks - even historians have no definite answer. There is an official opinion, roughly close to logical reasoning. According to popular belief, their main purposes are from the category: suppose everything in which there is logic. Namely: monasteries, crypts, tombs, cattle stalls, warehouses, cellars. As you can see, there are no dwellings in this list. Well, it's not logical to live in caves on steep slopes when you can build a house on the surface
